A Model Student

While walking through a store shopping for Christmas decorations, she was browsing the festive wares when she got a notification on her phone. Clicking the notification took Addie Jenkins to a Facebook post her mother just made: a picture of her as a model in a magazine.

This was the reality for Jenkins, a sophomore,  last Friday. “I opened my phone and I saw it on Facebook. I was just freaking out. I was excited. It kind of shocked me though.”

Jenkins, a Yellow Jacket Cheerleader, was featured as the inside cover model of DREAMY Magazine Issue 597. DREAMY Magazine is a print and digital magazine centered around showcasing the talents of photographers, models, and hair/makeup artists. Jenkins is also featured on the first 2 pages of the magazine.

“The shoot that I did with Richard and Danny, it was just for them to test out their styles of photos because they usually do weddings, senior photos, different things like that. They wanted to expand their creativity with photography.”

Jenkins credits this achievement to her photographers Richard Thompson and Danny Stogner. The magazine is open submission, allowing photographers like Thompson and Stogner to showcase their work, and in this case, for Jenkins to debut as a model.

“Ever since I was five years old. I’ve always loved dressing up and taking

pictures and all that stuff. It’s been a dream of mine since forever.”

This dream-come-true moment opens up a lot of doors for Jenkins. “It can get me Recognized. Different companies or modeling agencies can recognize this.”

“This is something on the side that I really love doing. I feel like it looks good on paper and it helps me develop emotionally I guess.”  While she does not plan to go into modeling as a career, Jenkins feels that wherever she goes, this exposure will benefit her greatly.

“Don’t take no as an answer. Because many times people will tell you no. And a lot of times, people can take that as a stop sign and they turn around. If one person tells you no, everyone else may want to say yes; just try everything.”

Jenkins is a great example of how dreams truly can be picture perfect.
