The Stinger: A Year in Review

“There is nothing permanent except change.” – Heraclitus

The Stinger has changed a great deal from the Spring 2023 class – from the largest classes to the smallest. From limited techniques to brand-new technology. From an old website to advanced software.

The first semester of the 2023-24 school year featured 22 Stinger staffers – the largest class size ever held. With a large number of students, comes a large amount of content – 29 features, 14 editorials, 28 Hivecasts and much more.

However, there was a lack of enrollment for the second semester. Only seven students signed up, but the staffers were still able to produce content – 17 features, seven editorials and eight podcasts – along with the weekly show.

Even with these hurdles, The Stinger has been able to use better technology.

Funding from donations lets The Stinger Staff have access to high-quality cameras, computers, and software – making the job easier for all.

The Stinger also upgraded their website – allowing the students to create more types of content.

The Stinger ON AIR has grown – becoming primarily student-produced.

The staffers have covered everything from the history of holidays to the lives of students and community members  – along with everything in between.

Since the end of the school year is near, it is important to stress the need for new staffers.

Without them, it would be impossible to produce any content.

The Stinger gives students the opportunity to create things based on their interests while learning how to handle a workplace environment.
