When was the last time you recycled something? Was it in your own home, a theme park, or just walking along the sidewalk, and did you actually think about the difference it could make or if it was just a way to sort the trash. Do you think recycling is a waste of your time?
Recycling is collecting and processing material that you could have just thrown away into the trash but instead you turn them into new products. Many products in your home can be recycled like paper/cardboard, plastics, glass, batteries, electronics, and some foods. It has many benefits. recycling can help create a more healthy planet for us and the future.
In the world today the recycling rate in the US is only 32%. The reason most people do not take the time to recycle is They think recycling is inconvenient and don’t trust that the program actually works or makes a difference. That information was the result of a study done by the World Economic forum. The national recycling goal is to increase it to 50% by 2030.
However recycling isn’t that difficult and it saves natural resources like timber, water and minerals. It reduces the amount of waste going into landfills and it helps prevent pollution keeping trash out of the ocean, lakes and streams. Recycling is a great way to reuse used materials and make them into something besides a pile of trash wasting away.
There is a large amount of litter floating in the oceans right now, because rain and wind carries trash from landfills into the ocean which is killing the animals that live there and ruining their water and environment. There are 400 million metric tons of plastic waste on are plants and less than 0.5 percent is in the oceans.
Recycling has a few easy steps: Collecting your recyclable materials Plastic 1 and 2 are the most accepted recyclable plastic, and then finding a place that recycles it is quite easy and worth the time you’re going to spend finding one even if there’s not one in your area.
For the plastic and materials you can’t recycle you can always reuse them like ur deli meat containers, salsa containers, and any other things made of unrecyclable. You can always wash out containers and use them to hold leftovers, knick knacks or to store your reheatable lunch. Doing that is better than just throwing away the plastic or other materials that aren’t recyclable.
Consider recycling to save the environment and our home, it’s not difficult and it does more good than harm. The difference is that if more people recycle it would reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills, help decrease the amount of pollution, and it would also help keep oceans ,lakes and rivers clean from trash. Recycle and help save are home that we don’t just inhabit but 3 million to 100 million animals also live on.
