Students in Abby Faulkenberry’s and Jenny Mills’ classes competed in “Helping Harry” — a STEAM/STEM design challenge for students where they must build a stable and safe perch for a pom-pom mascot named Harry using limited materials such as pipe cleaners, aluminum foil, straws, and index cards. This activity focuses on engineering design, teamwork, problem-solving, creative thinking, and perseverance, encouraging students to plan, build, test, and revise their structures to find the best solution. Mills’ class took the “W’ with a structure standing at 25.5 inches tall!
