The wind is blowing. It’s getting cooler outside. Leaves are starting to swirl and fall to the ground. Fall is upon us. You know what else comes with the wonderful, beautiful, glorious weather?
Allergies. The flu. Rehearsals, practices, games. Long days that stretch even longer the further you get into the week. Canceled games, sports tryouts.
Everything that no one looks forward to.
Hello Jackets! It’s me, Landon Bryson, writing to you with a promise that I’m not as negative as I seem. I care more about the world and everything in it than the paragraphs above suggest.
It’s the end of the first week of September, and we just enjoyed our first long weekend, due to Labor Day. At first I thought it was too long. I showed up at school on Tuesday and came to my first block ready to learn. But then some kid in my class said something stupid, and I thought, man that weekend wasn’t long enough.
Now that we’re in September, we’re finally starting a few things in the school year. For example, auditions for Six the Musical. Workshops, where people can get help on their vocals and dancing, are after school on this coming Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday, (dance assistance) from 4 to 5:30pm, Wednesday, (vocal assistance) from 4 to 5-30pm. Singing auditions are the 16th, 17th and 18th during Flex time. Dance auditions are the 23rd, 24th, and 25th during Flex time. The 23rd and 24th, the dances will be taught, and the 25th are the official dance auditions. If you would like to audition but can’t come during Flex, email Ms. Hayward to set up a time.
Students don’t talk about their favorite class a lot. I personally don’t have a favorite class, but one of the most fun classes is Spanish. Sometimes however, it can be frustrating when I’m listening to a screen reader on my computer read Spanish. The pronunciation of the words is so wrong it’s hilarious. It makes me wanna scream, “I want my life back”, two or three times a day.
Not to get deep, but I’ve kind of noticed that life is the same way. If you listen to the wrong voices, the bad influences, you could get held back from so many great things. You could fall, you could get misguided. It’s not what you deserve. I’m not saying keep your guard up at all times, but try to know who you can trust and who you can’t. You’ll get so much farther in life if you don’t fall to bad influences.
Well anyways, that’s it for this week. Be sure to listen to The Stinger episodes. Also, me and Mr. Matthew Collier are now starting to get back into the infamous Senseless podcast, so be sure to go check it out. Until next time, it’s your favorite blind Jacket!
