Jack-o’-Landon

Jack-o'-Landon

Dress up. The best game to play on Halloween. And the good thing is, usually, there are no rules. You could be a little creepy girl, you could wear a doll face mask like the movie “The Strangers”. You know, the one where the three strangers tortured two lovers before killing them. Or you could get a voice changer device thingy, put on a skull ghost mask thingy, and reenact “Scream”. Or you could dress up as a sighted person, which, if you ask me, is one of the scariest, but possibly coolest, costume someone could dress up as.

Especially if you’re blind.

What’s up everyone?! It’s me, Landon Bryson, writing to you while my phone plays “Smells Like Teen Spirit” by Nirvana. I usually skip this song, but not today I guess.

Rivalry week is this week, so you know that the competition has been fierce. Yesterday, the challenge was to see who could get the most donations at a blood drive. On Monday, they had a fight over who could buy the most chicken nuggets. But tomorrow is the top of the hill that both schools, Buford High and Andrew Jackson, (AJ High), have struggled to climb to. The top, weirdly, looks like a football field. My point being, that Homecoming is tomorrow night at Buford High School.

Homecoming is exciting. And the pep rally that our school is having before the game is, maybe exciting? I guess I’ll find out how exciting everything is tomorrow. Confession: Since I’m a Chorus kid, I’ll be sitting with the Band kids at the football game, because that absolutely makes sense. Usually we’re rivals too, but football = “forgive and forget” in my book.

Besides all that, today is the day that I come out for a day, as a sighted person. It’s going to be great, I can’t wait. If you don’t get to see this costume, well, I might be able to get a picture and put it along with this blog post. I have most of the costume planned out. I’ll improvise the rest.

I can’t wait to walk into school today and hear about all the ridiculous, hilarious costumes that everyone’s wearing, assuming people will follow the Rival Week rules and follow today’s “Where your Halloween Costume” rule.

I’m sure that everyone has a favorite costume. In fact, that was a question on the last Stinger ON AIR episode. By the way, if you haven’t watched The Stinger ON AIR, you should, because one, I said so, and two, its great. You should also watch my and Mr. Collier’s new Senseless podcast series.

Anyways, I was talking about favorite costumes. One year, I dressed up as Harry Potter, with a wand and the glasses. Ah, what a good day– before my step brother threw a ball and accidentally broke the glasses in half. I wasn’t really happy, but then we got a new pair.

I think next year I’ll dress up as a super sleepy annoyed blind guy. The sleepy, annoyed part will be easy to pull off. The blind part might be tricky….

Something I love most is when little kids walk up to doors and, with their tiny voices, ask for candy. It’s such an exciting day for them. I hope that every little kid enjoys Halloween while they have it.
Anyways, that’s all for this week’s blog post. Thanks again to everyone for reading this blog.

Until next time, its your favorite blind Jacket.
