Well, it’s a new year. A new school semester full of new classes and new people in these classes, although I still know most of them but stick with me here. New music and TV will be out this year. People will make new moments and memories and friends. New year, new me.
Nah, just kidding. I’m still the same awesome, attractive, amazingly hilarious person I was last year. And really, why would I even want to change?
Hello Jackets! It’s me, with the first blog entry in the Big 26. I can truly say that I hope this year is a better year for me and for all of you as well. 2025 was rough. Frankly, I’m still surprised we made it.
I did not meet my book goal in 2025, which sucks. My goal was to read 50 books, but since I started it in June and since I lost all the books I had in August and didn’t find them again until December, (interpret that however you want), I unfortunately only hit 23 books. But now that I’m more out of my book slump, and I have my books back, I have set the goal for 100 books this year. We’re gonna make it, trust.
Speaking of books, right now I’m reading One of Us Is Lying by Karen McManus. It gives off very Breakfast Club vibes; five kids in detention. The difference is, only four come out alive. Each character has a reason for wanting the kid dead, but we don’t know which one it is. Also, it just occurred to me that I might not want to continue talking about this book on a school blog post so that they don’t get the wrong idea. But anyways, the bottom line is, I like the book a lot, and I need someone to read it so that I have someone to discuss and nerd out with.
Moving to a completely random topic, let’s discuss sports! I know almost nothing about sports. My family is obsessed with them though, and everyone else around here. But if you think about it, that’s not really a bad thing.
Obviously I can’t participate in the cheering and the standing and the applause as well because I can’t see what’s going on, so I don’t feel the in-the-moment excitement that everyone else does. But I don’t get mad at other people for not including me in something like that, because why would I ruin their fun? Just because I don’t like sports doesn’t mean that everyone else has to postpone their excitement just to make me feel better. You like what you like, you know?
That concept can be applied to so many much broader things than sports. In life in general, people don’t always have to agree on the same things. They don’t always have to get along peacefully. Just because one person feels one way about something, doesn’t mean the other person has to. And it all comes down to respect; if someone has a slightly different value than you, that isn’t harming anyone, does that diminish their value as a human being?
Well anyways, that’s it for this week. It feels so good to be writing to you all again, and I don’t thank you all enough for reading these blog posts and considering what I have to say. Until next time, it’s your favorite blind Jacket!
